Alexander First Nation Campground Project– Public Comments Invited

April 22, 2021 – Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed Alexander First Nation Campground Project located on Alexander First Nation reserve lands is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination.

The Proposed Project

Alexander First Nation plans to upgrade an existing campground to include 23 serviced camp sites (water, sewer, and power connections), and construct a multi-use building for campground users. The campground is located along the northeastern edge of Sandy Lake, south of Highway 642. The existing campground is not currently operational and will require cleanup of unauthorized waste and debris, as well as clearing of overgrown sites and, in some cases, expansion of the existing sites to accommodate larger recreational vehicles.
