The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence proposes to construct two new cadet buildings (a Cadet Training Building and a Cadet Accommodations Building) and recapitalize three existing cadet trailers (B229, B233, and B239) located at Cadet Compound, Ad Astra Way, 14 Wing Greenwood, Greenwood, Nova Scotia (44°58'42.60"N, 64°55'6.60"W). The new cadet buildings will consist of one-level structures with a slab-on-grade construction. The new Cadet Training Building (approximately 478 m2) will consist of classrooms, offices areas, mess, canteen, washrooms, and other areas. The new Cadet Accommodations Building (approximately 550 m2) will consist of two 50-person accommodations units connected via a central gathering / social room. The recapitalization of the cadet trailers will involve a partial demolition/renovation of the trailers as well as hazardous materials abatement and off-site disposal of waste material to an approved disposal facility. This work also includes electrical, mechanical, and civil site work to support the construction and recapitalization of the buildings, including ground disturbance for the installation of footings, service/utility infrastructure, pathways, sidewalks, small parking areas, and landscaped areas near and around the building perimeters.
