Big River First Nation Arena Build Project – Public Comments Invited

January 21, 2021 – Infrastructure Canada must determine whether the proposed Big River First Nation Arena Build Project, located near the Village of Debden, Saskatchewan, is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, Infrastructure Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website (https://iaac-aeic.gc.ca/050/evaluations/Protection?culture=en-CA).

The Proposed Project

Big River First Nation Arena Build Project (the "Project") involves the construction of an arena in the Big River I.R. 118, SK. The proposed footprint of the new arena is 17,875 m2. Included in the plans for the proposed project are an ice plant to provide artificial ice, as well as the building of bleachers, dressing rooms, lobby, and inside viewing area to accommodate people with physical challenges and the Elders of the community. The proposed project is taking place on previously developed agricultural land.
