Public Comment Period on Intent to Make a Determination

July 29, 2020 — The Department of National Defence must decide whether the proposed project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this decision, the Department of National Defence is inviting comments from the public on the project and its potential effects on the environment. All comments received will be considered public. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) proposes to construct a new building at 4th Canadian Division Support Base Petawawa (Garrison Petawawa). The building will support a virtual training system for the Canadian Army allowing the crews of its principle combat vehicles to train as frequently as required at their home garrison. The proposed Project is planned for Garrison Petawawa, located 170 km northwest of the City of Ottawa, Ontario. The Project site is located on the north side of Warrior Drive, northwest of Building Y-108 (Light Armoured Vehicle Building).
