The Proposed Project
At the Water Survey of Canada hydrometric gauge on the Rideau River at Ottawa (02LA004), there is a cableway spanning the river.  The cableway consists of support structures on either bank with a looped cable strung between the structures.  The cableway is no longer required for taking hydrometric measurements at this site and Environment and Climate Change Canada is planning to decommission this cableway.

The cableway support structure on the south bank of the river is located on federally owned land in Vincent Massey Park.  The structure consists of 2 concrete pillars and cross braces which support the cable traversing the river.  The tower is approximately 9 m (30') in height.  This structure will be cut to grade and removed.
