Notice of Environmental Assessment Determination

Ottawa – October 22, 2012 - The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (the Agency) has commenced an environmental assessment for the Rose Mining Project located near Nemiscau, Quebec.

The Agency determined on October 19, 2012, that a federal environmental assessment is required for the Rose Mining Project pursuant to the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012 (CEAA 2012).

In making this determination, the Agency considered the following factors as indicated in Section 10 of CEAA 2012:

  • the description of the Project provided by the proponent,
  • the possibility that the carrying out of the Project may cause adverse environmental effects as defined in section 5 of CEAA 2012,
  • any comments received from the public within the 20 day public consultation, and
  • the results of any relevant study conducted by a committee established under section 73 or 74 of CEAA 2012.
