February 25, 2019 - The Honourable Catherine McKenna, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, re-issued a Decision Statement under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012 (CEAA 2012) for the Côté Gold Mine Project (the Project).

The Decision Statement is being re-issued in order to modify certain conditions included in the Decision Statement in response to potential adverse environmental effects of changes to the Project proposed by the proponent, IAMGOLD Corporation. The modifications to the conditions are as follows:

The Proponent shall design, construct and operate realignment channels and dams in a manner that will maintain fish habitat during all phases of the Designated Project and be consistent with any offsetting plan. In doing so, the Proponent shall maintain fish passage in the realigned channels and the natural channels impacted by the Designated Project, including between Bagsverd Lake and Neville Lake.

6.2

Prior to construction of realignment channels and dams, the Proponent shall remove terrestrial vegetation and organic soils in the portion of the south arm of Bagsverd Lake that will be flooded as a result of the Designated Project.

Prior to construction of realignment channels and dams, the Proponent shall remove terrestrial vegetation and organic soils that will be flooded as a result of the Designated Project at New Lake, as identified in Figure ES-2 of the Côté Gold Project Environmental Effects Review report (Canadian Environmental Assessment Registry Reference Number 80036).
