Roberts Bank Terminal 2 Project: Review Panel Invites Public Comments on Sufficiency of Information

Update – December 17, 2018 - The Review Panel has extended the deadline for participants to provide comments on the sufficiency of the information prepared by the proponent, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, regarding Information Request packages 7 through 13. In order to allow participants additional time to review those packages, comments are now due no later than February 8, 2019.

OTTAWA, December 4, 2018 – The Review Panel conducting the environmental assessment for the proposed Roberts Bank Terminal 2 Project is notifying participants that the Proponent, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, has responded to Information Request Packages 9 through 13 and the remainder of responses to Packages 7 and 8.

A compilation of all Information Request Packages and responses from the Proponent can be found on the Canadian Environmental Assessment Registry (the Registry), reference # 934. The public, Indigenous groups, government departments and agencies are invited to submit written comments on whether the information provided by the Proponent is sufficient for the purpose of proceeding to a public hearing. Comments are due by January 25, 2019.

At this time, the Review Panel cannot predict the timing of the public hearing. The Review Panel will provide a minimum of 60 days' notice in advance of the start of the public hearing.

All comments received regarding the Proponent's responses to information requests, will be considered public and will be posted to the online public Registry. Written comments in either official language should be sent to:

About the Project

The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority proposes the construction and operation of a new three-berth marine container terminal located at Roberts Bank in Delta, British Columbia, approximately 35 km south of Vancouver. The proposed Project, to be located next to the existing Deltaport and Westshore Terminals, would provide 2.4 million twenty-foot equivalent units of container capacity per year at Roberts Bank.
