Magino Gold Project — Public Comments Invited and Information Sessions

Update — July 21, 2017 — The deadline to submit written comments has been extended from August 10 to August 21, 2017.

July 11, 2017 — The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (the Agency) is conducting a federal environmental assessment of the proposed Magino Gold Project, located near Dubreuilville, Ontario.

The Agency invites the public and Indigenous groups to comment on the potential environmental effects of the project and the proposed measures to prevent or mitigate those effects as described in a summary of the proponent's Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).

This is the third of four opportunities for the public to comment on this project. All comments received will be considered public. Written comments in either official language must be submitted by August 10, 2017 to:

Information Sessions

Information sessions on the Magino Gold Project will be held in July. The Agency will be available to answer questions regarding the environmental assessment process. The proponent will be available to answer questions on the project.

The Proposed Project

Prodigy Gold Incorporated, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Argonaut Gold Incorporated, is proposing the construction, operation, decommissioning and abandonment of an open-pit gold mine and metal mill located 14 kilometres south-east of Dubreuilville, Ontario. Mining would occur over 10 years with an ore production capacity of 45 200 tonnes per day. The on-site metal mill would have an ore input capacity of 35 000 tonnes per day and would operate for approximately 12 to 15 years.
