BlackRock Mining Project – Public Comments Invited

June 24, 2013

The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency is conducting a comprehensive study type environmental assessment of the BlackRock Mining Project located in Quebec. The Agency invites the public to comment on the potential environmental effects of the project and the proposed measures to prevent or mitigate those effects as described in a summary of the proponent's Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).

BlackRock Metals Inc. is proposing the development of an iron, titanium and vanadium mine with an estimated production capacity of 20,000 to 50,000 tonnes per day, located within the territory covered by the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement, in the municipalities of Baie-James and Chibougamau. The project would potentially include an open pit, a processing plant, an access road, a transmission line, and a railway track approximately 27 kilometres in length.
