Canpotex Potash Terminal Project – Public Comments Invited

OTTAWA – December 13, 2011 – The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (the Agency) is conducting a comprehensive study environmental assessment of the proposed Canpotex Potash Terminal Project located in British Columbia. The public is invited to comment on a summary report of the Environmental Impact Statement prepared by the proponent that describes the project and provides an overview of the potential environmental effects of all phases of the project.

The summary report and more information on this project are available on the Agency's website at www.ceaa-acee.gc.ca (registry reference number 09-03-47632). The document is available in paper copy upon request.

Public comments received by January 20, 2012 will be considered.

This is the second of three public comment periods related to the environmental assessment of this project. A public comment period on the Comprehensive Study Report will be announced at a later date.

Canpotex Terminals Limited and the Prince Rupert Port Authority are proposing to develop and operate a potash export terminal and a rail, road and utilities corridor on Ridley Island in the Port of Prince Rupert, in British Columbia.

The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency administers the federal environmental assessment process, which identifies the environmental effects of proposed projects and measures to address those effects, in support of sustainable development.
