Milton Logistics Hub Project — Additional Funding Allocated for the Environmental Assessment

September 15, 2016—The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency has allocated an additional $87,150 to one applicant to assist its participation in the environmental assessment process for the proposed Milton Logistics Hub Project in Milton, Ontario.

The funding will assist the recipients to review and comment on the Environmental Impact Statement and to prepare for and participate in the public hearing. Indigenous groups will also receive funding to review the Panel Report.

The funding will also assist recipients to comment on the potential conditions that would be required, if the project is allowed to proceed.

This funding is allocated through the Participant Funding Program administered by the Agency. A funding review committee, independent of the panel process, was established to assess the requests for funding.

The project

The Canadian National Railway Company is proposing the construction and operation of a logistics hub, designed to transfer containers between trucks and railcars. The project would include a railway yard with more than 20 km of track and be located in Milton, Ontario, about 50 km west of Toronto.
