Highway 905 - All Weather Roadway - Stony Rapids to Lake Athabasca near Fond-du-Lac — Public Comments Invited

July 26, 2016 — The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (the Agency) is conducting a federal environmental assessment for the proposed Highway 905 - All Weather Roadway - Stony Rapids to Lake Athabasca near Fond-du-Lac, located in northern Saskatchewan.

The Agency invites the public to comment on which aspects of the environment may be affected by this project and what should be examined during the environmental assessment, as detailed in the draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) Guidelines. All comments received will be considered public.

The proposed project

The Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure is proposing to construct an all-weather road from Stony Rapids to the south shore of Lake Athabasca near Fond-du-Lac in northern Saskatchewan. The project includes: 88.5 kilometres of all-weather road; watercourse crossings; temporary structures, including construction roads, work camps and water withdrawal facilities; aggregate and borrow pits; and physical works and undertakings associated with fish and a fish habitat compensation plan.
