Beaver Dam Mine Project — Federal Funding Available

January 25, 2016 — The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (the Agency) is making available funding to support participation of the public and Indigenous groups in the federal environmental assessment of the Beaver Dam Mine Project, located in Marinette, Nova Scotia.

Funding is available for eligible individuals and groups to enable their participation in upcoming steps of the environmental assessment, which include reviewing and providing comments on the Environmental Impact Statement or on the summary thereof, the draft Environmental Assessment Report, and on potential environmental assessment conditions.

Applications received by February 24, 2016 will be considered. Recipients and the amount of funding allocated will be announced at a later date.

The Proposed Project

Atlantic Gold Corporation is proposing the construction, operation, decommissioning, and reclamation of an open pit gold mine in Marinette, Nova Scotia. The Beaver Dam Mine Project (the Project) would have an ore production rate of 5480 tonnes per day, over a four-year period. Ore from the Project would be crushed and transported 37 km by road to the Moose River (Touquoy) mine for processing. Components of the Project would include an open pit, a materials storage facility, mine haul roads, mine infrastructure for crushing and haul-out, and road upgrades.
