Red Mountain Gold Mine Project — Public Comments Invited

November 12, 2015 — The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (the Agency) commenced a federal environmental assessment for the proposed Red Mountain Gold Mine Project, located approximately 18 kilometres northeast of Stewart, British Columbia.

The Agency invites the public to comment on which aspects of the environment may be affected by this project and what should be examined during the environmental assessment, as detailed in the draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) Guidelines. All comments received will be considered public.

This is the second of four opportunities for the public to comment on this project. Following this comment period, the Agency will finalize and issue the EIS Guidelines to the proponent.

Projects subject to the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012 are assessed using a science-based approach.

The Proposed Project

IDM Mining Ltd. proposes to construct, operate and decommission an underground gold-silver mine located approximately 18 kilometres northeast of Stewart, British Columbia. As proposed, the Red Mountain Gold Mine Project would produce approximately 1000 tonnes of mineral ore per day and 275,000 tonnes per year, over an operational mine life of five to seven years.
