Randle Reef Sediment Remediation Project

The environmental assessment for this project commenced on March 7, 2003 and was completed under the former Canadian Environmental Assessment Act.

The project involves the construction of a capped engineered containment facility (ECF) of about 7.5 ha, consisting of a peninsula attached to Hamilton Port Authority’s Pier 15. The ECF would cover in-situ about 130,000 m3 of contaminated sediments and contain about 500,000 m3 of dredged contaminated sediments from the surrounding areas.
