Piikani New School Project – Public Comments Invited

March 30, 2023, – Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed Piikani New School Project located in Piikani First Nation, Alberta is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination.

The Proposed Project

Piikani Nation has proposed the construction of a new school adjacent to the Piikani Nation Secondary Highschool. The proposed school will be constructed on the current school's running track. The track will be removed and the site stripped to allow for construction.  The project will require demolition of the 1959 portion of the school on the west side of the existing school.
